During their long years of existence (formed in 1988), Biohazard have become a kind of institution of New York hard core and they are adored by fans of metal and hardcore alike. But when I'm listening to their new CD Kill Or Be Killed I can't say that Biohazard have done any progress compared to earlier outputs. Although the songs are still moshy and intense, it seems that Biohazard don't advance at all. Instead of going further, they are again following successful paths from the past and reached a dead end street. The CD of course still contains some real jewels like the fast Beaten Senseless or the angry Hallowed Ground, but in general, this can't be enough for a band with such a reputation. Most of the tracks show a lack of energy and speed which may be a consequence of the fact that Biohazard are trying to copy themselves. A running time of less than 37 minutes is another disappointment. This would have been a good album for a newcomer act, but Kill Or Be Killed doesn't kick enough ass to participate in the hardcore champion's league.
