J.B.O. started already years ago as a pure fun project. When they began covering metal hits with their own funny lyrics in German, they became quite fast successful. A bit later, they started writing own songs, revealing their lack of talent in song writing. Now they have released their fifth CD called Rosa Armee Fraktion and the title song is about the German presidential elections which took place in September 2002. On the title song, one of the best tracks of this CD, they present quite a nasty interpretation of 'make love not war'. Although the CD is containing some more pearls like their version of The Roof Is On Fire (Bloodhound Gang) or Ich Vermisse meine Hölle where they sing how fed up they are with German music hypes like No Angels or Zlatko. Even if the lyrics of most songs are very entertaining, the musical value is nothing more than mere average. I still think that their debut Explizite Lyrik is J.B.O.'s best CD and can't imagine that they will reach that level ever again. Furthermore the new CD contains about 20 minutes of silence what is even more annoying than the poor instrumentation. I suppose that you may like the record if you are very drunk. |
