This is the first review of a band filed under Z on this website. Zandelle are four guys from the American east coast who are fully into Dungeons and Dragons and martial arts. From there on, with song titles like A Hero's Quest and Lord Of Thunder, you know what to expect. At least more or less. Fortunately, Zandelle know where there roots are and don't make the mistake of copying European metal bands like Hammerfall too much.

The music sounds very US metal like, a tiny bit progressive, with a lot of power, which should appeal to every Iced Earth, Helstar and Jag Panzer fan. Sure, this is not original, but it is really very well done. The opener Warlords Of Steel may have a cliché-ridden title, but it's anthemic enough to make you want more. Zandelle are always best when they play straight forward metal, the mellower balladic moments are not so much my cup of tea. When the album closes with the twelve-minute epic title track, you know that you have witness a talented band.

Twilight On Humanity is the band's first album on a record label, but they did already some self-released CDs before that. If you are interested, you can download some songs on their MP3.com website. This my not have yet the quality of the über-bands mentioned before, but it's already a very promising start that deserves 7 points. And by the way, don't believe the running time information at the back of the CD (at least on the promo version), because that's a random as you will ever see.
