ZANDELLE - Vengeance Rising |

I remember the times, back in the Eighties, where a lot of heavy metal music was about rebellion. Whatever you may think of what became of bands like Metallica or Anthrax, but at least their songs awakened a sense of social and moral awareness in the youth of these days: anti-war songs, essays about the injustice done to Native Americans, cross-cultural understanding, it was all there. Now fast-forward to 2006, and you can't believe the nationalistic garbage that New York true metal band Zandelle is spewing out. Five years after 9/11, at exactly the moment where already more US soldiers have died in Iraq than the victims of the 2001 attacks, and with more than 50.000 Iraqi civilian deaths due to a war where no person sane in their mind understands why they were involved in the first place, Zandelle release their second album Vengeance Rising with band leader George Tsalikis singing "We must destroy them all. [...] We will not show them mercy. They all must fall". This is proof enough that the USA desperately needs a better health care system so that Mr Tsalikis can either get a good psychiatrist or immediately a lobotomy. Their German label should be ashamed to release such a disgusting right wing crap. I'd flush it down my toilet, but then even my toilet doesn't deserve that bad! And a suggestion to George Tsalikis: instead of releasing mediocre old school metal albums, you had maybe better join the US Army to help "destroy them all", but then it's probably easier to cheer your soldiers on than being one yourself. Just like your coward president! |
