DUSK OF DELUSION – Try Your Freedom

Dusk of Delusion was founded in 2016 as a pure nu metal band. The debut album (F)unfair was released two years later and was generally well-received. The follow-up album, Watch Your 6, was released in 2020 and did not meet with the same success. It dealt with the First World War and was overshadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The same was true for the subsequent EP World At War, which also dealt with the First World War. In 2022, the band released their third album COrollarian RObotic SYStem. Thematically, the album moved away from war and explored the possibility of humans and robots living together in a society. The more futuristic subject was reflected in the music which contained more synthesizers than before. The year is 2077, and the question of how humans and robots can coexist has not yet been resolved. The band has now released a new EP called Try Your Freedom, and the story from COrollarian RObotic SYStem continues. The year is now 2080, and the issue of human-robot coexistence hasn’t become any easier. The EP opens with a short fictional news segment, setting the scene for the album. The first song Bone Metal is a fast-paced track with a catchy chorus. The Hemicycle, the album’s second song, starts out more quietly, but builds to a crescendo of heavy guitar and drums. It just suffers a bit of overlength as it nearly reaches five minutes. Dusk Of Delusion are best when they are doing more compact work as on Bloks where nu metal and electronica go hand in hand. My favourite track on the EP is called Breaking The Wall. This song is incredibly danceable and should be a real hit at metal parties. The fifth and final song Floating Blossom is a more reflective track that ends the EP on a sombre note. Dusk of Delusion are currently working on a new album and a new story. They have not revealed any details about the content, but we should expect something different again. Dusk Of Delusion have made another great work with Try Your Freedom. The EP is well-produced and an enjoyable listening experience. The band's mix of nu metal, electronic music and catchy melodies is still as effective as ever. |
